💡 A caregiver's net salary typically ranges around ₪5,800–6,000 net per month, prior to any food-cost deduction. However, for caregivers already residing in Israel, this figure may vary according to seniority, experience, references, and prevailing market conditions.

Minimum Wage (Gross)

The monthly minimum wage is ₪6,443.85 gross, effective April 2026.

⚠️ Golden rule: Total deductions may not exceed 25% of salary. Work permit fees and agency commissions may NOT be deducted. Food deduction only if the employer bears meal costs per the contract.

Pension & Severance (from Month 6)

After 6 months of work, the employer is required to contribute 12.5% of gross salary.

⚠️ Resignation: entitled to severance fund (6%) and pension fund (6.5%) equivalents only, from month 7. Dismissal after one year: full severance pay per law (salary × years of tenure).

Annual Vacation

Paid vacation days by tenure. Parties may agree to 7 days/year, accumulating the rest (up to 2 years). Unused days are redeemed at end of employment.

Recuperation Pay

Entitled after completing the first full year. Daily rate: ₪418 (as of 2024, updated by government decision).

Rest Day, Holidays & Overtime

Weekly Rest

Entitled to 25 consecutive hours of rest per week on a mutually agreed day.

Work on Rest Day / Holiday

Additional payment of 150% of daily salary (regular day pay + 50% extra) for a 25-hour rest/holiday period.

Overtime – Live-In Caregiver

Per Israeli case law – a live-in caregiver is not entitled to overtime pay, as the role is considered a "trust position." However, courts are divided – seek legal advice.

Overtime – Outside the Home (Employer Hospitalized)

When the employer is hospitalized, monthly salary covers 8 hours/day (7 at night). Beyond that: first 2 hours at 125%, additional at 150% (up to 12 hours/day).

9 Paid Holidays Per Year

Worker chooses: their religious holidays or Israeli holidays. If required to work on a holiday – entitled to 150% daily pay.

🏛️ National Insurance: The employer must open a "Household Employer" file to cover work accidents and maternity pay. National Insurance contributions are 3.6% of the salary paid to the worker.
